Patrick Bamford Signs With Sheffield United After Leading Derogatory Songs About Coach Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with the Championship side just half a year after instigating disrespectful taunts targeting the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced forward, a free agent since leaving Leeds, has signed a contract joining the second-tier club in difficulty through the winter. His lengthy career with Leeds finished amicably this past summer.

Among Bamford’s last memorable actions as a Leeds player was to lead offensive songs about Chris Wilder during Leeds' promotion celebrations in April. Currently, the one-cap England international will be playing under Wilder as the Blades’ manager aims to pull his beloved club out of the relegation zone.

Past Conflict Between the Striker & the Manager

Both men had history before Leeds moved up back to the top flight the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the playoff final to Sunderland. The manager described the forward as a "muppet" when the situation was different in 2018-19 and the Blades secured automatic promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the playoffs.

Making Amends & Looking Ahead

Everything seems to have been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost in attack and Bamford hoping to resurrect his playing days.

The song about Wilder went viral in April. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, phoned Wilder the following day.

Wilder said at the time: “Spoke with Patrick yesterday and I’ve no problem at all with that. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow pro! However I appreciated and respected him giving me a call.

“We spent a short while and the same again I spoke to Daniel as well and had a half-hour chat with him and he's a super guy, a top guy. When I was playing we would dish it out and accept it and that’s an integral part of the game at every level, including Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with it and I told him that to Pat.”

Latest Career Struggles

The forward featured in 18 appearances for Leeds last season but the former Forest, Chelsea FC and Middlesbrough striker has struggled with fitness issues in recent years.
